Walks Saturday October 1 to Friday October 7

OH My God, October!

It’s a glorious time to get out there and walk, with the Fall colours, and he fresher temperature. A good time to drag out the garments kept in the bottom drawer and make a walking fashion statement. Orange is the new black?

Ah, Iceland!

Meadoway Walk & Breakfast

Just a reminder of the Meadoway walk on Saturday October 22. We may start a bit later (8:30) to give everyone extra time to get to Scarborough. If you are interested, please confirm via the comments so I can reserve an appropriate table at Gingerman’s.

Goodbye To Our Visitor From the East

We hope as many of you as possible got to catch up with Lynne during her visit here this past month. She is now back in Plymouth, but promises to return.

Traveller’s Diary

A few of our people have been out and about, far and wide, so here is a slideshow sampling. Please check out their Facebook pages for many more stunning pics.

On the Home Front

Closer to home, our local walks continue through the city’s network of parks and playgrounds, giving us license to act childish.

Look Who’s Back!

Yes, the one in green!

Nice to have our friend back after almost a year away. She won’t be out this Saturday, but possibly on the 24th?

Meanwhile, in the valley…

Here’s another group of walkers, doing their thing in Taylor Creek Park.

The Great Gathering

Plans are beginning to percolate for the annual get-together. Dates and location will be announced shortly.

Happy Birthday!

Best wishes go out to Nikki on Wednesday, who may be celebrating in Europe. Hey, there are worse things!

Weekly Walks

Saturday’s forecast is for temperatures in the high teens at 8:00, and low to mid twenties by the time we finish, partly cloudy. Should be good for some intensity, right? No changes to time and location, both before and after.

Attendance will be taken.

…Kidding…🤪

Walks Saturday September 10 to Friday September 16

Picton Picturesque

A small group of us made it out to Prince Edward County over the past long weekend for some country vistas, good food and a bit of dancing to this writer’s son-in-law to he’s band, The Lonely Hearts. We also a a lovely visit with Stacey who showed us her new house, currently under construction. It will be spectacular. We’ve scouted out the area and should a return visit happen, some interesting options are available.

Happy Birthday This Week

Best wishes for a splendid day go to Margie this coming Tuesday. 🎉🎂

Neighborhood Strolls

Dovetailing nicely with last week’s piece on alternate walking sites, this article from StrollTO dives more granularly into our city’s wards and neighbourhoods, with details of local landmarks, some familiar, and others better hidden. This might add a bit of variety and interest for even our most oft used paths. Check it out here.

Weekly Walks

Another sunny Saturday in the forecast, with temperatures around 20°C in the morning, so not yet time to put away the shorts. Looking forward to a good showing of knees at Loblaw’s at 8:00. And in case there are wasps buzzing about, here is an interesting piece about why so many more appear at the end of summer. The short version is, they have nothing to do back at the nest, and eat for distraction. Leave them be, as vigorous swatting might trigger their defence behaviour. A good way to keep them away is to leave a container a bit of sugary liquid (cola, etc.) a bit away from you to distract them.
