Walks Saturday October 5 to Friday October 11

Birthday Alert!

Val the gal that keeps on going is celebrating her birthday on Thursday of next week! Boldog születésnapot!

Offsite Update

We’re looking tentatively at October 19 for our Rouge offsite walk. Plans include bringing thermoses of coffee and treats for after walk sustenance. Due to travel time, let’s say we meet at the park at 8:30. I’ll look into parking and send details closer to the date.

A note of caution though: like with all nature trails, precautions should be taken to avoid ticks, like we have before at Colonel Danforth Park: stay in the path, use an insect repellent containing DEET, closed shoes and socks over pants, inspect carefully after the walk. More here.

Too Soon?

Leslie Lookout Park: Check!

Creature Feature

Not bashful (last Saturday on Martin Goodman Trail). Perhaps not a good thing…

Weekly Walks

We are entering cooler morning times, so jackets and long pants/leggings I guess, but it will be sunny on Saturday. L@8 .., again!

Walks Saturday September 28 to Friday October 4

Offsite Walk To Think About

Leverne has suggested the Rouge National Urban Park has a good destination for our next exploratory wander. The link above takes you to the list of trails and it’s looks like there are distances to suit everyone. We could follow it up with a picnic lunch. This could happen in time to coincide with fall colours so it should give us plenty of time to figure out where we stashed our Thermoses.

Weekly Walks & Happy Birthday!

If you come down Saturday to L@8, you can wish Helen a happy birthday in person! 🎂🎉🥳

The forecast looks very good.

Walks Saturday September 21 to Friday September 27

Birthday!

We’re hitting the ground running (or better yet, walking) with Nikki’s special day Saturday. Hope to see her out that morning for in-person best wishes.

Creature Feature

Norwegian hare, photographed in the hills outside Oslo. They grow BIG here!

Weekly Walk

This will be the last remote post as Helen and I are back Sunday. We’ve had great weather and seems like it’s been lovely back home too. It continues Saturday according to the forecast, so it’s L@8!

Leslie Lookout Park Now Open

We’ve walked by many times on our way to the Spit, but it seems it’s now open so maybe check it out this Saturday?

Not Leslie Lookout Park!

Read more about it here.

Walks Saturday September 14 to Friday September 20

They Have No Stibits😕

No place to sit either as it was just a truck in a seaside parking, but the intention was good. To be honest, we were well satisfied with the King Crab.

Weekly Walks

Saturday appears to be splendid according to the official weather report. Certainly warmer than we will be well north of the Arctic Circle (although still mild by local standards). Helen and I will be with you in spirit. Have a great walk!

Walks Saturday September 7 to Friday September 13

Our gym today

Hei fra Norge

Hello from a beautiful, warm and sunny Bergen! We arrived yesterday and have put in the steps to see this lovely city. More details will come forth when we share the trip with you back home but do expect a few images over the next few weeks.

Birthdays

Best wishes on Sunday to Alexis who we haven’t seen walking for a while but, once a Shore Thing, always a Shore Thing. On Friday, Denise and Margie have their celebration! 🎉 to all.

Weekly Walks

Saturday looks like a good one for thin layering. L@8

We will think of you as our ship sets off for the Arctic Circle. 🚢

Walks Saturday August 17 to Friday August 23

Birthday!

Happy birthday to Kim on Thursday! Woohoo!

Camping Done for Another Year

Despite a wet start, the weather cleared and camping turned out to be a lovely four days! Thanks to everyone who came out and chipped in for setup, packing and meals. We enjoyed a few good walks too! Tentative for 2025: Long Point Provincial Park.

Weekly Walks

The forecast is iffy. Depending where you look, there is some likelyhood the rain might taper off and stop by the time we head out. Sunday is similar so this might be a case of rainwear+dedication, or we simply meet for coffee. 🤞🏻

Walks Saturday August 3 to Friday August 9

Birthdays!

A double celebration weeks coming up: Sharon on Sunday and Norma on Wednesday. Let’s send them best wishes!

Thank You Paul and Lou-Ann!

It was a perfect pool party day: sunshine, good convo, bevvies and food aplenty! Our thanks to Lou-Ann and Paul for opening their home to us and to everyone for their potluck contributions. Always the highlight of the summer for the Shore Things!

Weekly Walks

Saturday will be hot in the afternoon but bearable in the morning. The good news is that it appears it will be overcast which will help. Let’s meet at the usual and perhaps retreat to the indoors post walk for coffee and such.

Creature Feature

Taylor Creek Park never ceases to produce interesting animal diversions.

Ruth sends along these links for some foot energizing exercises.

Weekly Walks & Pool Party

It’s on track to be a splendid morning for a walk Saturday, and to work up some banked negative calories for the spread at the pool party that afternoon. If you haven’t rsvp’d to Lou-Ann, please take a moment. Remember to bring a lawn chair.
